Elena Chavez is a woman who likes to live dangerously and doesn't like to be told what to do.
Elena Bolivar was born in Mexico and moved to Puerto Rico at a very young age. She became a citizen of the United States and grew up trying to live the American dream. She grew up with her younger sister, Juanita, making trouble wherever they could.
Elena decided that she wanted to attend college elsewhere and left Puerto Rico to go to California. She met Diego Chavez whil at college there and fell in love. She married Diego and moved to San Antonio with him to set up a life of her own.
She owns the San Antonio Herald and reports the news from the viewpoint of the common people of the town instead of the elite news like that of Jared MacKay.
