Russell was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. He grew up in a middle class family in a rough neighborhood. He earned a reputation as a tough guy, never backing down from a fight. He made a name for himself in amateur boxing matches and became a force to be reckoned with in his neighborhood.
Russell was headed for trouble until a local cop stepped in and helped Russell turn his life around. Russell saw the power that police had and saw the potential good that a police man could do. He went to the academy and became a police officer.
Russell worked security one night at a high society function and saved a young model, Alexa Reynolds, from being assualted by a stalker. Alexa was grateful and was instantly intrigued by Russell. She called him and talked to him several times after the incident before Russell asked her out on a date. She agreed and they went out. They could see they were from two different worlds, but they also knew that they couldn't deny what they felt for one another. They were married in a small ceremony out of the public eye.
Alexa received a modeling contract from the Beautiful Bodies modeling agency in San Antonio. Russell was supportive of his wife and made the move to San Antonio with her. He got a job with the San Antonio Police Department and based upon his experience moved quickly up through the ranks. He made detective in no time at all and now works the homicide division.
